Public transport

From Düsseldorf Main Station take bus no. 725 towards "Hafen." At "Kirchplatz," change to bus no. 835 or 836 to Oberkassel. Get off at "Jugendherberge" stop.

Alternatively, go from Düsseldorf Main Station by underground lines U70, U74, U75, U76, or U77 (towards Oberkassel-"Belsenplatz") to "Luegplatz" stop. Continue on foot across Kaiser-Wilhelm-Ring along the Rhine to the youth hostel (approx. 10 minutes).

Private transport

Note that the city of Düsseldorf will introduce its low emission zone not until February 15th, 2009. Thus, no »sticker« is currently required for your car.

From the direction of Mönchengladbach or Krefeld

At Kaarst motorway intersection take A52 to end of motorway. Then change to right lane (Zentrum/Oberkassel). Take first exit to the right (Düsseldorf Oberkassel). Follow the road. Then turn right after the first set of lights (Hectorstraße). Turn left at the next intersection (Rheinallee). The youth hostel is at the end of the street.

From the direction of Essen or Oberhausen

Take the A3 to Breitscheid motorway intersection. Take A52 to end of motorway. Turn right in the direction of Mönchengladbach and continue straight on. Take first exit after the bridge across the Rhine. Follow left lane and turn off. Follow the road to the end, then turn right into Luegallee. Change to left lane and stay there. Turn left after the second set of lights (approx. 50 m) into Hectorstraße. Turn left at the next intersection (Rheinallee). The youth hostel is at the end of the street.

From the direction of Frankfurt

Take the A3 to Hilden motorway intersection. Take A46 to Düsseldorf-Bilk exit. Change to left lane at the end of motorway and enter Südring. Turn right after approx. 2km into Völklinger Straße (direction Messe/ Zentrum). When in the Rheinufertunnel, turn right in the direction of Oberkassel. Change to right lane on the Rheinknie Bridge and on the exit from the bridge immediately get into left lane (Düsseldorfer Straße). Turn left at the second set of lights (Am Heiligenhäuschen) and immediately left again (Rheinallee). The youth hostel is at the end of the street.

Plane

Düsseldorf International Airport has connections to a large number of cities in- and outside Europe. After arrival, go to the railway station "Düsseldorf Flughafen" and take the next train to "Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof." From there continue as described above under Public Transport.
