Hi,

I got some more information and wanted to share them with you.

Travelling by car:
The city of Düsseldorf will not introduce a low-emission zone before February next year - this means that you don't have to have a "fine particles" sticker on your cars windshield in order to be allowed to enter Düsseldorf center area!

Parking at the Youth Hostel:
For entering and/or leaving the YHs underground parking lot, you will need a "chip" that has to be claimed for at the YHs reception. The fee for it is 5 Euro per day. That chip is only valid for 1 entry/exit and thus you'll have to ask for another one each time... (don't ask me what that exactly means, we'll have to see...) but the price is 5 Euro a day, regardless how many times you enter/leave.

Other than that, there might be good chances to find a parking lot either on the YHs rear side or in the closer surroundings, however you might have to buy a parking ticket from any of such machines put up in the streets. Also, there might be a limitation on the maximum duration that you can leave the car. If there is, it will be declared accordingly at the ticket machine.
